What is SmartDivision?
SmartDivision is an adware that affects only macOS devices. Basically, it comes together with freeware/shareware programs and is installed automatically if a user doesn’t decline optional SmartDivision. Once installed, it hijacks installed web-browsers corrupting their configuration. This may result in a search engine change or a sudden increase in advertising labeled as powered by SmartDivision, Ads by SmartDivision, Ads powered by SmartDivision, Advertisements by SmartDivision, SmartDivision Extension, SmartDivision App in your browsers. This is not so much a dangerous feature as annoying. You may follow this guide to remove SmartDivision pop-ups from Safari, Mozilla Firefox, and Google Chrome.

Alternative solution. Step 1: Remove SmartDivision from Mac
SmartDivision may not have the app associated with it in Applications. However, we recommend you to inspect the list of installed applications and remove unknown or suspicious ones. Look for SmartDivision or SmartDivision.app.
Mac OSX:
- Open Finder
- In the Finder sidebar, click Applications
- If you see Uninstall SmartDivision or SmartDivision Uninstaller, double-click it and follow instructions
- Drag unwanted application SmartDivision from the Applications folder to the Trash (located on the right side of the Dock)

Step 2: Remove malicious entries from Profiles (Mac)
- Open System Preferences.
- Click on Profiles.
- Click on unsigned and suspicious profiles on the left panel.
- Click the minus button below to delete rogue settings.
Step 3: Remove SmartDivision from browsers
Safari:
- Open Safari
- Click Safari menu.
- Choose Extensions.
- Find SmartDivision or other suspicious extensions.
- Click Uninstall button to remove it.

Step 4: Resetting your browser search and homepage settings

- Click Reset button.
