What is CustomSuccess?

CustomSuccess is a potentially unwanted program that has been bothering Mac users lately. This PUP may end up on your Mac after installing fake Adobe Flash updates or dubious applications. Once inside, it makes changes to browser configuration. creates a new entry in Profiles, and appends an extension to Safari, Google Chrome, or web browsers. All this is done in order to complicate the task for those who want to get rid of it. Meanwhile, users’ browsers are filled with questionable content in the form of pop-ups, banners, video/audio ads, in-text links and so on. A single click is enough for a device to end up on scam or malware-laden websites. And if that’s not enough, CustomSuccess also can “read sensitive information from web pages, including passwords, phone numbers, and credit cards”, which is described in the description. Therefore, there is a high risk of confidential information leakage or even stealing money from your credit cards. To prevent these dangers, we strongly advise you not to use the browser until you remove CustomSuccess Extension from your Mac.

Alternative solution. Step 1: Remove CustomSuccess from Mac

CustomSuccess may not have the app associated with it in Applications. However, we recommend you to inspect the list of installed applications and remove unknown or suspicious ones. Look for CustomSuccess or CustomSuccess.app.

Mac OSX:

1. Open Finder
2. In the Finder sidebar, click Applications
3. If you see Uninstall CustomSuccess or CustomSuccess Uninstaller, double-click it and follow instructions
4. Drag unwanted application CustomSuccess from the Applications folder to the Trash (located on the right side of the Dock)

Step 2: Remove malicious entries from Profiles (Mac)

1. Open System Preferences.
2. Click on Profiles.
3. Click on unsigned and suspicious profiles on the left panel.
4. Click the minus button below to delete rogue settings.

Step 3: Remove CustomSuccess from browsers

Safari:

1. Open Safari
2. Click Safari menu.
3. Choose Extensions.
4. Find CustomSuccess or other suspicious extensions.
5. Click Uninstall button to remove it.
