What is Mystart Incredibar?

Mystart Incredibar is an add-on toolbar that appears on the internet and messes up many browsers around. It hijacks your search settings and redirects them to mystart.incredibar.com or search.mystart.com or mystart.com You might never have visited this site directly, but there is some hijack based on Backdoor Trojan that sneak to your system and download this thing to your computer. Since it changes the startup page in your browser and redirects your search results to some unexpected web pages, it is often called a Mystart.incredibar.com redirect virus, and since sudden changes in browsers scare users, it might be determined as scareware, the new wave of rogue products that uses social engineering for a fraudulent scam.

Windows XP:

  1. Click Start.
  2. Control Panel.
  3. Then click Add or Remove Programs.
  4. Find Mystart Incredibar.
  5. Click Uninstall.

  3. Find Mystart Incredibar.
  4. Click the trash can icon to remove it.

  1. Hi.
    Some of my cousins downloaded Incredibar MyStart into my computer. I deleted the bar from system, so it’s not showing anymore, but MyStart has become my browser.
    Im very worried because my Anti-Virus system does not detect MyStart. its taking over all my browsers, and i everything is working very slow. Almost all pages are encrypted, and broken. Everything leads to MyStart page.
    Im not experienced in computer, but i really need to remove this from my system in free, since Im just a student, i dont have a credit card.

    • It depends on what browser you’re using.
      If you’re using Google Chrome, click the tool at the top-right corner of the screen, and it will show a list of options to choose from. Click “Settings”, then click “Manage search engines” under the “Search” category. After that, you will see “Mystart Incredibar” at the top of the list. Click “Make Default” for the Google search engine, then go over the Mystart engine then click the X.
      After that, click “Set Pages” under the “On Startup” category. Once you’ve done that, go over the Mystart, and click the X.
      But if you’re using a Mac / another browser, I cannot help you.

    • If you go to extensions under settings go down to new tab for chrome
      and remove it it will be gone so the next time you click new tab it will open a new tab not the stupid incredibar thing

  4. I also recommend that you download and run Combofix. THE best malware remover. You can get a free copy of it at bleepingcomputer.com. Keep it store somewhere on your PC or and external drive and use it for malware.

  7. Help me!!!!! I’m not familiar with those registry stuff but i really need to get this incredibar thingy out of my comp. i cant browse stuff. incredibar directs me to this stupid websites. Pleeeeeaaaaase help!!!!!!

        • Go to chrome://chrome/extensions/ and check if you have Mystart Incredibar there – remove it if it is there.

          If not but you still have search and home page set to Incredibar go to:
          chrome://chrome/settings/
          and edit your startup, and search engines.

  9. Thank you!!! It seems like I finally got rid of it…
    In firefox (about:)config in filter field I typed “search” (like in the you-tube videoguide) and “mystart” (I read that further up this page) and reset all keys related, but it didn’t solve the problem. I then filtered “incredibar” and manually reset a bunch of keys (maybe around 50!!) and now everything appears to be back to normal…

  11. I use Firefox and am unable to get rid of MyStart. I have uninstalled the things you have mentioned above; and gone into about:config and have reset or changed to google. My home page is now the default Mozilla about:home. However when I try to search using this it re-directs me to a mystart search. How can I fix this problem.

  12. PLEASE do not forget to do this for every user on your computer! If you don’t, you will have them log on, use Firefox, they are still infected, and YOU get reinfected. Ask me how I know!? LOL

  15. I consider myself a pretty advanced computer user. I deleted all files off computer, changed the browers back to normal and ran registry cleaner. But my internet is still going slowly because of this and sometimes still redirects. Any tips?

    thanks, the Firefox instructions helped me to repair my FF12.0 !
    One thing: instead of entering something new, all the infested config-values should be right-clicked and then ‘reset’-ed. cheers, Simon.
